Maths Learning Centre (MLC): Tutorials

A 30 minute tutorial with a lecturer who specialises in maths or statistics support.

Any DMU student. You can be an undergraduate or postgraduate student studying on any course.

To book an appointment, click on the "book a MLC tutorial" button on this webpage. You will be asked to choose either a Maths or Statistics tutorial, depending on what you need. By booking this appointment you are confirming this tutorial is not taking place while you are in exam conditions.  

Please send a copy of your question and your attempts to answer it prior to the session. You can do this when you book your tutorial. For statistics tutorials please attach your data in an electronic form.

We can provide Maths advice to help you to understand mathematical concepts and improve your skills

We can provide Statistics advice to help you:

• Design a questionnaire
• Consider the purpose of statistics
• Use statistical software packages e.g. Excel, SPSS, Minitab
• Explore data and carry out descriptive statistics
• Choose the right statistical test and analyse data
• Interpret data and understand what your results mean

Please note the responsibility of your maths assignment/statistics project is yours. We can not proofread or answer questions that form part of an assessed assignment. By booking this appointment you are confirming this tutorial is not taking place while you are in exam conditions.

For Statistics queries, we are not able to:

• Do the data analysis for you
• Advise on the subject of the research project
• Provide technical software support or advice

We can advise you on the techniques available for your work, but ultimately the decisions about your work are your own.
