Maths Learning Centre (MLC): Data Statement

MLC Data Statement

The MLC team is governed by the Library and Learning Services (LLS) Directorate and as such adheres to LLS and DMU best practice in relation to your data. Data is processed in four ways by the team according to the services you engage with.

Drop-in

Your attendance at drop-in is recorded via our online system. Your name and programme of study is collected on the session register which is made available to tutor in order to tailor the support provided. Following the drop-in basic data is processed into an overview data visualisation dashboard, which helps us to identify trends and patterns with service users. Additionally, frequent users of the drop-in may be contacted in order to explore support needs.

Tutorials

By booking a tutorial with us you provide some basic information to allow your MLC tutor to provide you with the best help possible. This data is processed into a tutorial record. This record is available to all members of the MLC team and will give an overview of what you are studying, what help you requested and details of what support we provided. Additionally your basic data is processed into an overview data visualisation dashboard, which helps us to identify trends and patterns with service users.

Workshops

When booking a workshop with us you provide basic information on who you are and what you are studying. Your name and programme of study is processed into a register which is made available to the workshop leader in order to tailor the session to best meet the needs of the group. Following the workshop, basic data is processed into an overview data visualisation dashboard, which helps us to identify trends and patterns with service users.

Other service engagement

MLC offers a range of additional interventions and services. Please check the details of the data usage at the point of access.
