Psychometric tests are a standardised way of measuring certain skills and comparing your scores with those of other people. They are also known as aptitude tests. They may include a personality test, verbal or written tests or a combination. Click here to find out more about the tests.
Over 70 per cent of larger companies use psychometric testing. Many medium and small companies also use tests to assess candidates on the skills relevant for the job. The Careers and Employability team can help you prepare for a psychometric test, with online resources such as practice tests and free workshops during term time.
To book onto practice workshops on verbal and numerical reasoning which run between October and March, visit My Gateway. The workshops will help you understand how psychometric tests are used and then give you an opportunity to work through some examples on your own and in small groups. The Maths Learning Centre also provide support with the numerical aspects of these tests. Visit their guide for contact details or go direct to their Numerical Reasoning Tests page.
