Drug Information

Citing and Referencing the BNF

  • Whether you are accessing the BNF via Medicines Complete or the NICE website, give BNF as the author
  • “Year of publication” is the year the online BNF was last updated. This information can be found on the specific page you are referencing. The online BNF is updated on the 15th of every month, so it is likely that the year you enter into the reference will be the current or previous year.
  • You must add the exact URL which leads to the webpage you are referencing. You must have a different reference for each different page.
