  2. If you are not first in line, go and grab a coffee or carry on working at your desk in the library 
  3. Keep an eye on your phone or email so you know when to return to the LDZ for your drop-in

What is the Maths drop-in? 

Our drop-in gives you the opportunity to speak with a Maths Learning Centre (MLC) tutor about your maths queries and get individual help from a qualified lecturer.

Drop-in operates on a first-come-first-served basis – so no booking needed. 

To allow tutors to see as many students as possible drop-in slots are kept to 15 minutes.

Where is drop-in?

Drop-in takes place in the Learning Development Zone (LDZ) in Kimberlin Library.

In a drop-in we can

  • Support your understanding of mathematics and statistics.
  • Help build your maths confidence and reduce anxiety.
  • Help you to use statistical software packages e.g. Excel, SPSS, R.
  • Advise on further resources to support your learning.

However, we are unable to:

  • Do your assignment questions.
  • Advise on the subject of your research project or analyse your data.
  • Provide technical software support.
  • Proofread.

Identify what it is you want to talk about with the tutor and have any course material and/or attempted question ready to share. Be ready to provide any necessary context for the MLC lecturer to understand your question..

Drop-in operates on a first-come-first-served basis and tutors see as many students as they can within the hour.

If the queue is full for the day, you have a number of options:

We process the data disclosed during the sign up process to better support you during drop-in and to monitor the use of the service.
