Databases are useful resources to search for good quality subject-specific research, and to find journal articles on a topic. Here are some useful Architecture, Art and Design databases. Most of these will be covered by Library Search, but you may find the results on these databases to be more specific to your subject field. Unless otherwise specified, you will need your Single Sign On username and password (the same as for MyDMU and email) to access them within and outside the university.
EBSCO's Academic Search Premier is a multi-disciplinary database that provides active full text for more than 3,100 journals, including active full text for nearly 2,750 peer-reviewed titles. The database also includes more than 70,000 videos from the Associated Press. This collection of videos is updated monthly and includes footage from 1930 to the present day.
The AJ supports architecture students by providing in-depth news analysis, insights into issues affecting the industry and building studies with technical details and drawings. The AJ Buildings Library is a digital database that showcases more than 1,900 exemplar projects, most from the last 20 years but including major projects back to 1900.
DMU students and staff have to register with their DMU email address via the AJ site to obtain access on and off campus. There is no automatic connection to the site on campus.

A full-text archive of magazines comprising key research material in the fields of art and architecture, dating from the late-nineteenth century to the twenty-first. Subjects covered include fine art, decorative arts, architecture, interior design, industrial design, and photography. The issues are presented as full-color page images; detailed article-level indexing permits quick, efficient searching and navigation of this material.
ARTbibliographies Modern (ABM) is a database for the study of modern and contemporary art. Covers all art forms, including fine art, digital art, crafts, design and photography. Features full abstracts and indexing from art journals published from the late 1960s onwards. Also incorporates book records, including those drawn from the collections of the Tate Library and the Bibliothèque Dominique Bozo, Musée LAM.
This database features hundreds of titles covering Art, Architecture, Design, History, Philosophy, Music, Literature, Theatre and Cultural Studies. It is designed to complement the following indexes: ABM, Avery, BHA, BHI, DAAI, Index Islamicus, MLA, Philosopher's Index and RILM.

This online database provides access to the searchable full text of hundreds of periodicals from the late seventeenth century to the early twentieth, comprising millions of high-resolution facsimile page images. Topics covered include literature, philosophy, history, science, the social sciences, music, art, drama, archaeology and architecture.
DMU has access to British Periodicals Collections I & II through the ProQuest platform.
This online index is the premier source of information for all aspects of design and crafts, from textiles and ceramics to vehicle design, advertising and sustainability. The database covers journal articles, exhibition reviews and news items from 1973 to the present.
Online version of DETAIL journal, with each issue devoted to a specific constructional theme. Includes analysis and plan drawings of selected projects. DETAIL Inspiration is an image and reference database which supports architects in their search for construction solutions.
This database provides an online collection of scholarly, government and general-interest titles covering all aspects of human impact to the environment. Topics include global warming, green building, pollution, sustainable agriculture, renewal energy, recycling, and more.
Scopus indexes scholarly journals covering science, technology, textiles, health, medicine and social sciences from 1960s to date. You may need to 'activate' your personal Elsevier account on first use of this resource.
