Students and staff members from another university can join under the SCONUL scheme


Who can Apply for SCONUL Membership?

SCONUL Membership is available to all staff and students that are from another University under the SCONUL scheme.

To Apply you must provide the following:

Sconul Membership Includes:

  • Access to Kimberlin Library
  • Borrowing rights (dependent on SCONUL Band/category which is provided when you apply to SCONUL)
  • Reference access to printed journals
  • Use of open study spaces
  • You may use wifi on your own device if your institution has eduroam. Please refer to your home institution for instructions on how to access eduroam
  • Borrowing rights (dependent on SCONUL band/category which is provided when you apply to SCONUL)
  • Use of the Library Cafe when open

Sconul Membership does not include:

  • Access to the Law Library and other Library spaces
  • Borrowing if not included within your SCONUL band (please refer to your SCONUL email)
  • Access to computers, printers and online resources
  • Access to wifi if your institution is not part of eduroam
  • Loan of DVDs or other media and library stack items
  • Bookable rooms

SCONUL summer access scheme

SCONUL also run a summer access scheme for students on taught courses at other universities to visit an unlimited number of times over the summer with a valid university student card. This scheme generally opens at DMU from the 3rd week of June and runs until the third week of September. Access times are Monday to Friday 9am - 5.20pm.
