Members of the Public

Members of the public can apply for a public membership free of charge

Who can apply for Public membership?

Public membership is free for all individuals who are:

Over the age of 18*
Currently living in Leicester, Leicestershire or Rutland
No longer in full-time education

To apply you must provide the following:

A passport-style photograph
Proof of address and date of birth
Photographic ID

* Under 18s please read the schools and colleges membership information

Public membership Includes:

Access to Kimberlin Library, for 12 months at a time
Loan up to 10 books from the main collection
Reference access to printed journals
Access to university guest WiFi on your own devices in the library (max. 500 concurrent users)
Use of open study spaces
Use of the Library Cafe when open

Public membership does not Include:

Access to the other Library spaces
Access to computers, online resources, or printers
Loan of DVDs or other media and library stack items
Bookable rooms
