Christmas Closing 2024

Due to the Christmas Vacation at DMU Library (and also at other libraries across the UK which supply us with our Inter-Library Loan items) we will be unable to deal with any ILL requests which are submitted to us after 3pm on Wednesday 18 December 2024, until 9am on Monday 6 January 2025 inclusive.

Kimberlin Library will be open for study and borrowing of books, but with reduced hours of opening over the vacation.

Please note that:

  • We will process all journal article requests that are submitted to us before the end of Friday 13th December.
  • Some of these articles may arrive before the Christmas Vacation, however they may be delivered as electronic documents with a limited time before they expire (30 days from the date of sending) so please download them as soon as possible. Remember to read the information on 'Opening Encrypted Documents' to ensure that you are successful.
  • We will only process book requests up until Monday 2nd December as these items generally take at least several days or weeks to be delivered to us, and therefore may be unlikely to arrive before the end of Term
  • We will process all ILL requests as quickly as we can when we return on Monday 6th January 2025 so please do remember to check your DMU email regularly to see if your requested item has arrived.

However if you require any item urgently before then, please contact the team for further information.

ILLs for 2nd Year Undergraduates

All students currently in their 2nd Year who are starting their dissertation research are eligible to request Inter-Library Loan items from the start of the Summer Term onwards, as well as throughout their 3rd year. We recognize that many students begin their research before they begin their 3rd Year, and we hope that this will help them to start their preparation and planning in good time.

If you are a 2nd Year student and need access to ILL items during the Autumn or Spring Terms of your 2nd Year, please contact your Subject Librarian in the first instance, before applying for any ILL items.
