DMU Museum: Placements and Volunteers

DMU Museum showcases the rich history that surrounds our campus and tells the story of the university for over 150 years. We also manage two gallery spaces that support an ongoing temporary exhibitions programme.

Work Experience

DMU Museum is committed to providing students with the skills necessary to help them reach their professional goals.

Whether you’re interested in the cultural and heritage sectors, design, social media or education, we host a range of opportunities throughout the year to support your individual development.

Through a variety of pathways (module placements, university employability initiatives or volunteering) students can gain knowledge of subject specialist skills including:

  • Curatorial experience
  • Collections care
  • Exhibition design
  • Museum education
  • Community outreach
  • Research support

The museum sector is competitive and your placement will aim to provide you with practical experience to improve confidence and help you succeed.

We encourage students from all disciplines to apply to our available roles as we enjoy the new perspectives that they contribute to our space.
