DMU Museum: Heritage Sundays

DMU Museum showcases the rich history that surrounds our campus and tells the story of the university for over 150 years. We also manage two gallery spaces that support an ongoing temporary exhibitions programme.

Heritage Sundays

Clustered around The Newarke and De Montfort University campus, just minutes from the city centre, are remarkable buildings that tell the story of Leicester from its Roman origins to its manufacturing heyday.

On the last Sunday of month, May-Oct (excl. Sept), you can explore some of these historic places free of charge.

You can also discover lovely outdoor spaces, including Castle Gardens Park and the tranquillity of some of the city’s beautiful secret gardens.

The following guided tours from local history experts are available (excluding September):

11:00am - The Magazine

12:30pm - Leicester Castle Great Hall

2:00pm - St Mary de Castro Church

Tickets £6 adults, £5 concessions (over 60s, students/children).

The duration of each tour is one hour. Online tickets available at Whats On – Leicester Museums or in person at Newarke Houses Museum. Advance booking is recommended as unsold tickets may not be available on the day.
