New library Database A-Z List is now live!

DMU Library has moved to a new Database A-Z List to improve student and staff access to its suite of online resources.

The new Database A-Z List can be accessed direct at https://library.dmu.ac.uk/az/databases?t=25753, or by visiting the DMU Library homepage at https://library.dmu.ac.uk/DMU and clicking on the Database A-Z tab.

The new Database A-Z List provides access to approximately 200 subscribed and open access online resources provided by DMU Library. The new A-Z user interface has a more modern "look and feel", but students and staff can still search for an online library database by database name/keyword, subject, vendor (provider), database type (e.g. eBooks, journal articles), or browse online resources alphabetically. The updated Database A-Z has a number of new features that we hope will enhance the discoverability and accessibility of the library's online resources. Some of these new features include:

  • An updated Featured Databases sidebar that provides quick access to the library's most-frequently used electronic databases
  • Increasing the number of alternative names and relevant keywords at the database-entry level to improve search results
  • The addition of customised Flags - small, coloured text labels - that alert users at-a-glance to special features or information about a database (e.g. Full Text, Requires registration)
  • New Page Announcements functionality that allows the library to alert its users to any current online databases problems or issues that we may be experiencing, or to communicate upcoming maintenance or downtime windows scheduled by content providers

If you need support finding subject-specific online databases for your learning or research, or are not sure where to best start your search for online materials provided by the library, we suggest consulting your relevant Subject Guide for guidance. Online subject guides can be accessed direct at https://library.dmu.ac.uk/SubjectGuides

As the new Database A-Z site has only just been launched, you may continue to notice a few minor tweaks to the list over the coming days as library staff work to ensure that the page is up-to-date. We hope to add more enhancements to the new site in the coming months to continue to improve online databases search and connectivity for library users.
