What is an email tutorial?
A 30-minute tutorial that takes place asynchronously via email.
Do I need to be online during the email tutorial?
No. As the tutorial is asynchronous, you do not need to be online. You do need to submit a draft of your work ahead of the tutorial time slot though.
What should I submit?
Because the tutorial is asynchronous, the more information you provide, the more tailored the feedback will be. Please submit:
- Your assignment brief and any guidance
- Draft of your work (up to 1,000 words), highlighting which section you would like feedback on.
- A brief note on the type of feedback you are seeking (e.g., structure, criticality, academic style)
- If resubmitting, include the marker’s Turnitin comments
How do I submit my work?
Email your work as attachments to us at least one hour before your tutorial slot.
A tutor will respond to your questions, review your work and provide feedback within 24 hours of your online tutorial.
Feedback is often provided using the comments function in Microsoft Word. To ensure the best experience when viewing comments, it's recommended to use the desktop version of Word in Microsoft 365. While comments may appear on mobile phones or tablets, some features might be limited or less visible.
What if I haven’t received feedback within 24 hours?
Can I have more than one tutorial?
You can book one of each type of tutorial per week:
- Academic Writing
- Information Searching and Referencing
- Maths and Statistics
This ensures all students have fair access to the service.
What happens if I book more than one tutorial in a week?
If you book more than one of the same tutorial type in a week, only the first appointment will be kept. Any additional appointments will be cancelled, and you’ll be notified by email.
How can I cancel or amend my tutorial?
To cancel or reschedule, use the link provided in your booking confirmation email. Once cancelled, you may book a new tutorial at a different time.
