Staff LinkedIn Learning: In Teaching & Learning

In Teaching & Learning

LinkedIn Learning (LL) can be used in teaching and learning, this can have many benefits:
  • Flipped classroom approach, based on recommended LL content
  • Contextually link to LL content in a variety of ways, in DMU Resource Lists, LearningZone and MS Teams
  • Extend and support student knowledge and skills on a variety of skills and support assignments e.g. from specific MS Excel, Adobe InDesign, Communication and more
  • Students can track progression and completion of any LL content they engage with and obtain certificates of completion
  • LL content can include downloadable excercise files for students to practice, transcripts and captions on videos

You can share LinkedIn Learning content in LearningZone or DMU Resource Lists and MS Teams. The below details will show you how.
*A process is currently being investigated by ITMS that allows for improved integration of recommended LinkedIn Learning content in LearningZone modules. This page will be updated accordingly if deemed to be working as intended.*

  1.  Activate your staff LinkedIn Learning account.
  2. Signpost your students to activate their LinkedIn Learning accounts. Students can track their progress, save or bookmark the content for later access to LL.

Options for sharing:

Option 1. You can share sourced LL content as URL link (copied) and add as a web link in your Blackboard modules - see steps in video below 'Share LinkedIn Learning Content'. Students will be prompted to sign-in with their usual login details on accessing the link.

Option 2. A role of academic LinkedIn Learning sub-admin has been set-up.

A role of sub-admin can:

  • Curate Content: Make their own learning paths and collections. This basically means you can source several LinkedIn Learning content and make a 'collection' to be shared with your students.
  • Share LinkedIn Learning links as 'Single-Sign On' (SSO) links that can be added as web link in your Blackboard module. This way students can avoid single sign-on prompt (as they are signed into Blackboard)
  • View Reports: Configure, download and view reports of learner activity on LinkedIn Learning.

To obtain the sub-admin role please complete the brief form Request Sub admin role in LinkedIn Learning. A email confirmation of your activated sub-admin role will be sent.

Professional services staff can too request the sub-admin role if you wish to create Learning Paths to share with colleagues for professional development or group interests. To obtain this sub-admin role please complete the brief Request Sub-admin role form for professional staff.

NOTE If you choose not to have the sub-admin role you can still share LL content links in Blackboard, as you share web links in Blackboard, your students will just need to login when prompted. Note there is no reporting access on usage.
