Leisure Reading Collection: How the Collection is Arranged

Information on how to access literature to enhance your leisure time!

Shelving Arrangement

The books in the Leisure Reading Collection are arranged on the shelves in groups according to the type of book they are. So, for example, there are a lot of novels in the collection, so to make it easier for you to find that crime novel, or that adventure novel you are looking for - especially if you are not looking for a specific author - all the crime novels are kept together, and all the adventure novels are shelved together, in groups, or 'genres'. Within each group, the books are then arranged alphabetically by the name of the author.

You will find books in the following 'genres' on the shelves, and the three-letter code on the spine of the book indicates the 'genre' into which the book falls (it also helps us to make sure the books are shelved in the right place!):

How to use the collection

You can choose a book from the collection and read it within the library. Or, if you want to take it home to read, you can issue it to yourself using any of the self-issue machines located in the building.
