Assistive Technology (AT): Computers & Laptops

The Assistive Technology (AT) Guide provides you with information about assistive software and training in the library.

There are currently restrictions on access to our spaces due to COVID-19 and the need for social distancing. We will re-open our spaces once we are able to do so safely and within Covid-19 guidelines.

We have 20 Assistive Technology (AT) PC in the Library. They are mainly in the Kimberlin Library Study Rooms and the Assistive Technology computer room. They have this AT sticker on them:

Dragon Blue Cabinet Laptops

The laptops are not AT computers but are installed with a selection of AT software: Dragon, Audio Notetaker (Sonocent), MindView, MindGenius, Inspiration, ClaroRead, and IncludeMe.  Laptops are available for loan through our self-service facility for up to 2 hours. When you return the laptop, ensure to connect it to the charger. If a Laptop is not fully connected to the power cable and the locker door fully locked, the Laptop will remain on your account and fines applied as this prevents other students from borrowing it.

Dragon Laptops do not come with a USB headset. You will need to use your own or borrow one from AV loans (booking link below) or speak to a member of the Library Disability team about their loan Dragon headphones.
