Membership of the library

 

Student Alumni 

You are eligible for free membership of the Kimberlin Library which includes:

  • Free membership of the Kimberlin Library for 12 months at a time
  • Loans of up to 4 books from the main collection
  • Reference access to print journals
  • Use of open study spaces during library staffed hours

Former DMU staff

If you have more than 12 months service as a member of staff, you are eligible for free borrowing membership of the Kimberlin Library which includes: 

  • Free membership of the Kimberlin Library for 12 months at a time
  • Loan of up to 4 books from the main collection
  • Reference access to print journals
  • Use of open study spaces during library staffed hours
  • Wi-Fi via the EduRoam service, if you are a member of staff or student registered at another university. 

Alumni Membership

Application

Step 1 for DMU Graduates: Before applying for Library membership please contact the university’s Alumni office who will provide you with confirmation of your course of study.

Step 2 Once you have this confirmation from step one please apply for Library membership here, by clicking on the "Apply now button" below. More details of services offered through this membership can be found on our Alumni guide

Step 1 for DMU Staff Alumni: Before applying for Library membership please contact Human Resources for a letter confirming status as staff alumnus and length of service.

Step 2: Once you have received your confirmation from Step 1 you can apply for DMU library membership.

To apply at DMU you must provide the following:

  • a passport-style photograph
  • proof of address
  • photographic ID
  • confirmation from Alumni Office (Graduates only) or Human Resources (Staff alumni)

What CAN'T I Access?

 

 

Some services are only available to current students because of service demand or licensing restrictions and they are therefore not available to Alumni. These include:

  • Access to the Law Library and its book stock
  • Access to the Eric Wood and the Greenhouse Learning Spaces
  • 24 hour library access
  • Access to online resources you had access to as a student/member of staff
  • Access to IT facilities (PCs and printing)
  • Access to DMU's eduroam / guest wifi
  • Loan of DVDs or other media or Library Stack items
  • Laptop loans
  • Bookable rooms, both individual and syndicate
  • Fashion predictions
  • Services of the Support Teams

Library regulations

All users are bound blibrary regulations. Access and membership are provided at the discretion of the Director of Library and Learning Services.
