Programme Validation: Home

Prior to validation

A signed Library Resources Request Form is required as part of the validation documentation. Please provide details of:

  • Any new resources required for the programme (e.g. books, journals, databases, multimedia etc.)
  • Any requirements for academic skills input from our Learning Services team (Information Literacy/ Digital Literacy/ Learning & Writing Skills/ Maths-Statistics Support

Email/share the form with your subject librarian for sign-off.

Help filling in the form

If your programme:

  • is using modules from existing programmes and Resource Lists already exist, provide the relevant module details and a link to the Resource List if possible
  • requires new resources, please outline these on the form, or attach a document with details. If recommended readings have not been finalised, provide an indicative list. It is particularly important to let us know of any expensive items or subscriptions requiring recurrent budget.
  • requires academic skills intervention, outline your requirements and an appropriate member of the team will contact you to discuss. Alternatively fill out a curriculum request form

If you have any queries, your subject librarian will be able to guide you through the process

Post-validation

Once the new programme has been validated, a DMU Resource List must be created for each module

It is university policy for every module to have an accompanying Resource List

Resource Lists:

  • provide students with a central portal to access the supporting materials you need them to read, watch or listen to
  • automatically alert our team to buy appropriate copies of recommended materials
  • enables you to request digitisations of extracts, chapters and articles
  • can be embedded in the VLE module shell, providing direct links to print holdings information and access to material in electronic format.
  • are easily created, modified and annotated so that they continually reflect current requirements

Please ensure you create your Resource List at least 8 weeks prior to the start of teaching, to allow for our acquisitions process.

See our Resource List page for help in creating lists, timelines and best practice, or contact your subject librarian
