DMU Made are offering students a number of opportunities to develop entrepreneurial skills (idea generation, problem solving, team-work etc), which are invaluable whether you have aspirations to work for yourself or within a company.

Autumn 2025 will see the launch of our new Bitesize lunchtime workshops, allowing students to sharpen skills for Freelancing and Self-Employment, in our new Kimberlin Library space (DMU Made Studio, Room Kb1.06). This series of 30-minute sessions will upskill attendees on a range of vital topics including Business Registration, Blogging and Website-creation.
And students of a creative persuasion are keenly invited to the first ever DMU Made ‘Crafternoon’ during Fresher’s Week in September. This afternoon event will provide a fantastic opportunity for like-minded students to meet up in our relaxed, roomy workshop space. Students are encouraged to bring along materials, equipment and ideas, with plenty of room to spread their work out on our workbenches.

Freelancing and self-employment among students and graduates is booming. Are you interested in joining this growing movement, and working as a freelancer, either alongside your studies or when you graduate?
