This information was updated on 13th May 2021
Following the move to stage three of the Government roadmap from 17th May and revised Guidelines for HE issued 10th May, Library and Learning Services spaces are open to all DMU students only for individual study. The Library operates under Covid secure measures and has no group or pair working space. We ask you to be considerate in your use of physical study space and to follow the guidelines and measures that remain in place for the comfort and protection of all users.
We are supporting your studies remotely so that you can work online and stay home if you choose in line with government and university guidance.
You can access our electronic library resources 24/7. For those not on campus we are also offering a postal loans service for items available in print format only. Further information on borrowing, renewing and returning items, including how we have adapted in light of Covid secure measures, is available.
Find out how we are supporting your research and independent study. You can get help from specialists in learning and academic skills support, including research and referencing, academic writing, maths/statistics and digital skills via online tutorials, drop-ins, live chat and online workshops. Additional study help is available through Studiosity 24/7 and LinkedIn Learning provides access to online courses and videos.
Our spaces are open for individual study only. Our spaces have a reduced number of seats to meet the required guidelines and a number control operates on our overall capacity (currently 300 visitors maximum in Kimberlin Library)
Kimberlin Library and the Eric Wood Learning Zone are open 7 days a week until the end of term. Summer vacation hours take effect from 5th June. Please check our opening hours before you visit. Our opening hours are subject to change, based on staff availability and government guidelines. The Law Library and Greenhouse remain closed.
To keep you and our staff safe while using our spaces for study or for collecting print stock:
While Covid controls remain in place, eating is not permitted in the library and our learning spaces. Hot and cold drinks are allowed, but please ensure you replace your face mask when not drinking. Take a break and refuel in the Food Village, which is open weekdays between 8am and 4pm for both takeaways and socially distanced eating in.
All students are expected to undertake two lateral flow Covid-19 tests, with negative results, before returning to campus and making use of all services and facilities, including library visits. DMU’s testing centre at The Watershed is open and information on booking an asymptomatic test is available. A pop-up test space is operating in Eric Wood Learning Zone/ Weekly re-testing is advised by the university for all students and staff.
Further information on DMU’s guidance on return to campus can be found here and the revised guidance for English universities, including on library provision, is available.
We will continue to work with the university to monitor and review the situation and to support your learning within the scope of local and national guidance.
Stay safe and well.
