Using the Library

Using the Library Overview

Welcome to Library and Learning Services. In the menu you can find out about the wide range of services and resources we offer to help you safely enjoy success in your studies.

Studying Safely

AS we enter a new phase of dealing with Covid, here in the library we are looking forward to offering a more relaxed, but still-safe study environment.

With this in mind please continue:

  • To wear face masks
  • Practice social distancing
  • Make use of the hand-sanitiser points and cleaning spray and paper towels located throughout our spaces.

As you can appreciate, the situation is still something of a balancing act, but with us all working together and taking personal responsibility in keeping each other safe, we believe it is an exciting time for our library community to thrive.

Library & Learning Spaces

We have two libraries, the Kimberlin Library, open to all staff and students and the Hugh Aston Law Library that is dedicated to those within the School of Law, plus two learning zones, Eric Wood Learning Zone and the Greenhouse.

You need your DMU ID card to access our library and learning spaces, so don’t forget to bring your student ID card with you.

All our library & learning spaces are open for individual and collaborative study for small groups.

You can also study in spaces across the campus.

Information Resources

We have a large number of electronic resources (books and journals) available online 24/7 to help you with your studies.

You can visit the Kimberlin Library and the Hugh Aston Law Library to borrow physical items and browse the journal collections. You need your DMU ID card to borrow items, so don’t forget to bring it with you.

For those students studying remotely, we are also offering a free request service if what you require is not available electronically. You can either collect the items from the Kimberlin Library or we will post them to you.

Opening Hours

We have revised opening hours this academic year. Please check our Opening hours before you visit.

Help

Our friendly and helpful staff are here to help and support you with your studies. You will also find lots of guidance online to help.

Kimberlin Library Trail

The Kimberlin Library Trail is an introduction to the library and what we can offer, for new and returning DMU students.  Use the trail as a guide around the building, or have a look before you come and visit us so you know what to expect.
