Where to get help in the Library

Library and Learning Services offer a wide range of guidance on all aspects of your studies.

Use our LibChat widget 24/7 to request help, whether you are inside or outside the Library. There will also be library staff at hand to provide guidance, they wear library lanyards so you can identify them and ask for any directions or help you need. For times when staff are available see here.

Library staff also rove throughout the libraries. They wear library lanyards so you can identify them and ask them for any help or directions you need.

For more specific queries you can contact the Subject Librarian for your subject area, who will have expertise and knowledge relating to the particular resources for your department. Visit the Librarians guide to find out who your librarian is.

Just Ask! and FAQs

For help when you are outside the Library, you can contact the JustAsk service anytime during staffed hours by e-mail or by phone, and they will do their best to help you as quickly and efficiently as possible.

We aim to provide an answer to enquiries submitted via the Just Ask form within 24 hours, although it is usually much quicker. Please note that replies will take longer when the University is closed for public and bank holidays. You can find details of opening times on the Opening Hours Page. If your enquiry is urgent, you may prefer to telephone the Just Ask service on 0116 257 7042.

If you have a comment or suggestion about our services, you may prefer to use the feedback form rather than submit an enquiry.

Search our FAQs and/or submit your question
