Newspaper databases

LexisLibrary is the database to use if you are targeting newspaper articles. It contains full text articles from major UK national and local newspapers.

Print newspapers

A number of newspapers are available for you to browse in the Kimberlin Library. These include:

The Daily Telegraph

Daily Mirror

The Guardian

The Independent

The Times

Financial Times

Leicester Mercury

A selection of Sunday newspapers are also available.

The newspapers are kept for approximately six months in the Kimberlin Journals section.

Why use newspapers?

Newspapers are often discounted as sources of information as they are not 'academic'. However they can be very useful as they provide:

  • Information about local events
  • First-hand accounts of events
  • Current information

Reading quality newspapers is a great way to develop your commercial awareness. In assignments you will often be writing about business models and theories and information from newspapers can illustrate how these models and frameworks are put into practice.
