The Scanned PDF Request Service for Distance Learners is available to provide you with copies of journal articles or book chapters which the Library only has in paper copy. Copyright restrictions apply to these requests, so you can only ever request 1 chapter from a book or 1 article from a given journal issue; copyright prevents us from providing a 2nd article or chapter.
We offer an online Scanned PDF Request Service. A link to the online request form can be found here.
For scanned PDF requests, there is no charge.

If you need access to a book or journal article which isn't held by the DMU libraries, you can submit an online Inter Library Loan request - 1 per item requested. You need to log in to the form using either your Single sign On username and password, which you use to log in to Blackboard, or using your P number from your DMU ID card (typed without the P), and your Library PIN.
Annual entitlements to Inter Library Loans are outlined below.
Depending on where we obtain your Inter Library Loan Request from, it can take up to 14 days to obtain the item, or a progress report on your requested item. You can also use the My Account feature of the Library catalogue, which lists items you have on loan, have reserved or have requested, to track the progress of your ILL requests.

The Postal Loan Request Service for Distance Learners is available to provide you with items from the DMU Library book stock, to your home address in the UK.
The form for requesting a Postal Loan can be found here. On receipt of your request we will retrieve the item you need and post it out to you; generally within one working day of receiving your request.
Because of the need for many of our student cohorts to stay away from campus, because of the Covid-19 pandemic, there is currently no charge for the Postal Books Loans Service. You are required to pay the cost of return postage which should be done by recorded delivery.
Requesters should please be aware that we cannot guarantee the loan period of an item sent out via the Postal Loan Request Service. All of our loan items are issued for two weeks and will auto-renew unless required by another borrower. We recommend you regularly check your Library Account for due dates.
We will send a courtesy email to you if an item cannot be renewed. This will be using your DMU email, or the email address you provided when you joined us. Please therefore ensure that you check your e-mails regularly.
If we need a book back and can’t renew it for you, we will tell you five days before it’s due, with a reminder on the day before it is due back.
