Members of the Public

Members of the public can apply for a public membership free of charge

Who can apply for Public membership?

Public membership is free for all individuals who are:

  • Over the age of 19*
  • Currently living in Leicester, Leicestershire or Rutland
  • No longer in full-time education

To apply you must provide the following:

  • A passport-style photograph
  • Proof of address and date of birth
  • Photographic ID

Public membership Includes:

  • Access to Kimberlin Library
  • Loan up to 10 books from the main collection
  • Reference access to printed journals
  • Use of open study spaces
  • Use of the Library Cafe when open

Public membership does not Include:

  • Access to the Law Library and other Library spaces
  • Access to online resources or the internet
  • Loan of DVDs or other media and library stack items
  • Bookable rooms
