Renewing Book Loans

Loanable books are issued for two weeks and loans will automatically renew unless required by another borrower. We recommend you regularly check your Library Account for due dates.

We will send a courtesy email to your University email if an item cannot be renewed, so please continue to check your emails regularly.

Borrowing items not in DMU stock

Items can be requested if not available from our own library stock. Please click here for further information about Inter-Library Loans and to check eligibility to submit a request.

Postal Requests

We offer a postal service to DMU students within the UK:

  • studying on a registered distance learning course, excluding overseas students
  • studying part-time
  • studying on an apprenticeship
  • studying and commuting in from home

This service is free to use, but you will need to pay the cost for returning any books back to us. Books should be sent by recorded delivery.

Please note:

If a book you have on loan is reserved by another student you will need to return it within 7 days from the date notified. Returns can be made in-person or by post. Charges may apply for late returns.

If you request a book or a photocopy or a chapter/article where an electronic copy is available, you will be directed to use the electronic copy. Please let us know when applying if you would have particular difficulties in accessing or using the electronic copy.
