Studying in your Library

We want you to enjoy studying in our library and learning spaces. To support your time here at DMU, we provide both a range of information resources and study spaces for individuals and groups.

We will:

  • create an environment in the library that meets your study needs
  • make available books, journals, and information resources
  • provide friendly and professional help
  • help develop your skills for independent lifelong learning
  • respond promptly to your comments and feedback

You can help by:

  • using study spaces as they are designated, for silent or group study
  • being mindful that library spaces are for study, not socialising
  • not smoking, vaping or using eScooters within our library spaces
  • treating each other and staff with courtesy and respect
  • taking good care of library materials, property and equipment
  • using our library lockers if you are leaving the library for an extended period of time
  • complying with copyright law.

University and Library Regulations and Policies

The University’s Student regulations and policies (dmu.ac.uk), outlines the expected behaviours, which apply to all students.

The Library Regulations, are part of the general university regulations and specific aspects relating to the Library can be found in Chapter 11, Annex 1. Other relevant policies for studying in our library spaces are:
