You can reserve a book that is out on loan to someone else. You can do this via the Library catalogue. You will need your borrower number and PIN to reserve items, or you can use the Single Sign On option. This service is only available for physical books where all loanable copies are not available.
The length of time you will wait for the book, depends on how quickly the book is returned by the current borrower. As soon as the book is ready for collection you will receive an email from the Library. You can collect your reservations from staff at the help point on the ground floor of Kimberlin Library once you have received the email.
Electronic resources or reference/not for loan items cannot be reserved.
Books where all copies are out on loan can be identified by the "earliest copy due back" date and the option to reserve the title:
We offer a postal service to DMU students within the UK:
This service is free to use, but you will need to pay the cost for returning any books back to us. Books should be sent by recorded delivery.
Please note:
If a book you have on loan is reserved by another student you will need to return it within 7 days from the date notified. Returns can be made in-person or by post. Charges may apply for late returns.
If you request a book or a photocopy or a chapter/article where an electronic copy is available, you will be directed to use the electronic copy. Please let us know when applying if you would have particular difficulties in accessing or using the electronic copy.
This service enables disabled students to request items to be put on one side for them and collected, when our service desks are open, from our Help Desk.
Students who require assistance with retrieving books from the shelves in Kimberlin Library can ask staff to help via this form.
