Student IT and Digital Skills Induction: Set up Multifactor authentication to secure access Email and MS365 off campus

Set up Multifactor Authentication (MFA)  to securely access YourDMULabs, email and MS365 apps off-campus

Enhanced extra security authentication layer

To enhance the security of your account and our systems, you need to establish your multi-factor authentication (MFA) when accessing YourDMULabs, your student email, or other MS365 applications when you are off-campus.

This process is similar to other systems; for instance, if you have a personal Google account, you may be prompted to verify your identity when logging into these systems. You can read more here on MFA Student FAQ's.

NOTE: SMS (text message) is not available as an authentication method.

How do I begin the MFA setup process?
  1. Start by downloading the Microsoft Authenticator App on your mobile device.
  2. Open your web browser and navigate to https://aka.ms/mfasetup.
  3. Sign in using your student email in the following format: Pnumber@my365.dmu.ac.uk and your DMU password. You can find your P-number on your student card.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to select your preferred MFA method.

For more detailed instructions, consult the guides (video included) provided on this web page. Choose the one that matches your preferred setup method.

NOTE: SMS (text message) is not available as an authentication method.
