Dubai Law subject guide: Books & e-Books

Using law textbooks in your research with Law Trove

As a law student, Law Trove will be invaluable to your studies as it includes the essential textbook for each of your module as well as around 200 other law titles from Oxford University Press (OUP).

Beside Law Trove and the books from your Dubai library, you also have access to a number of other ebook platforms available from DMU. The ebook collections listed below are not subject specific but will include useful books for your studies.

Why are books useful?

Scholarly books can contain comprehensive accounts of research or scholarship, historical data, overviews, experts' views on themes/topics. They are particularly useful when you require background information and related research on a topic, when you want to put your topic in context, identify key theories and key researchers in a subject area.

What books are not good at is in researching current topics as it can take years to write and publish books. So whilst they can give you a good overview of a research area it is important to bring the research up to date by consulting other sources such as journals and newspapers.

Google Books

You can search the contents of books from Google Books. But remember, most books are not available in full and the content available through Google Books can change from day to day.
