Some books and journal articles are available open-access. This means they are freely available for anyone to use without any payment or subscription.
Google Scholar allows you to search for academic resources. A PDF option is shown where the full-text is freely available. You can also add DMU full-text links to Google Scholar.
Google Books provides previews and in some cases the entire page range of books that are out of copyright, or where the publisher has given permission for free use.
Plugins are available that will automatically check for free copies of articles you've found online.
A number of other UK university libraries allow students to use their print resources through a scheme called SCONUL Access.
If you are studying in the UK, you can visit libraries that may be closer to you and use study facilities and refer to books and journals on a reference basis. If you are a postgraduate student you may be able to borrow items under this scheme.
You can register online for the scheme.
