Maths Learning Centre (MLC): Postgraduate Students

We run an optional statistics session on the Researcher Development Programme. For more information or to book contact: rtp@dmu.ac.uk.

The Introduction to Statistics session will cover:

• key terminology used in statistics
• how to summarise your data (descriptive statistics)
• what inferential statistics is and how to use to test hypotheses (choosing the right statistical test)
• how to interpret a p-value

The session is aimed at students who may need to use statistics to analyse their data and is appropriate for students who do not have a background of using statistics or need to refresh their knowledge.

Please come along to one of our  drop-ins  or book a Tutorial to discuss the statistical analysis of your project. We can provide advice on what techniques might be appropriate and suggest resources to guide you. We are not able to do the analysis for you, advise on the subject of the project, provide technical support or proof read.
